Chicken Fries? Seriously?
Alright, Burger King, what the heck is the deal with the Chicken Fries? Are you guys serious?
This, to me, seems like a classic case of a company working hard to keep up with a fad---in this case, the low-carb craze. I can honestly imagine a bunch of suits sitting around the table at the Burger King headquarters a year ago, throwing their hands in the air in frustration, asking the question, "How can we keep up with this new low-carb culture?" Then, maybe, one "genius" at the table said something like, "Well, maybe we could make our fries less, well, 'carby.'" But how? What could be put inside a potato product to make it less of a starch?
Did anyone say poultry? Yeah, that's it. Some other genius at the table must have chimed in with the suggestion, "Let's make those potatoes meatier. That will do the trick. Wait---let's ditch the potatoes all together, and make those fries all meat!"
Then, in true corporate style, I'm guessing, they tried to roll out their new invention, the chicken fry, as speedily as possible, but you all know what happens with things like this. Delays. Hold-ups. Design changes. Name and branding issues.
Before you know it, I'm sitting in my living room watching a commercial over and over where a guy is screaming to rock music with a chicken costume on his head about delicious chicken fries, which look almost identical to Burger King's existing chicken strips, and I'm thinking, like the rest of the universe, "Aren't we supposed to like carbs again? I want my fries to be carbtastic."

I swear to God: When I saw the chicken fry posters, I thought, "I bet people are blogging about this."
Sho' nuff!
oh my god, this just cracks me up Kori, my hubby has been ranting about the chicken fries commercial for like a week now, he thinks it's the most ridiculous thing he's ever seen and he finds the need to explain to me in great detail WHY it's so ridiculous every time it comes on, it's like he's running for president of the "No chicken fries" country the way he goes on and on! I so have to refer him to your fabulous blog on the subject, maybe it will bring him peace : )
Tried 'em. They are indeed tastually identical to the chicken tender. Just smaller.
